The oldest route for P&O Ferries. Originally being operated by North Sea Ferries from 1965, North Sea Ferries was a joint venture between up to six companies in the beginning with P&O having a 35% share. Today the route is 100% owned and operated by P&O Ferries with two large purpose built cruise-ferries.
The timetable has hardly altered since the original in 1965, back then the sailings left nightly at 19:00 with arrivals the next day at 08:00, now the ships sail at 21:00 each and every night.
Sailings are typically 10 hours in length, some sailings during refit season (January) are 14 hours due to the ships operating the route. The ships operating on the route currently are:
Tip: Boarding begins at 17:00 and operates continually throughout the evening. If you arrive, you can board the ship and settle in your cabin and have a meal all before the ship sails.
